As the inaugural director of the University of Virginia’s Public Service Pathways Program, Dreama Montrief Johnson leads a highly collaborative, pan-University team that aims to help students connect to public service as a personal commitment, a lifelong practice, and/or career.

Full Bio

With more than 15 years of experience in higher education, Johnson identifies and makes accessible the knowledge and training needed for students to graduate with a commitment to making positive change in society. Her most recent work focused on supporting students interested in careers with social impact.

Drawing from previous roles in financial aid, student support, and AmeriCorps with the Virginia College Advising Corps, Johnson is committed to student success. A first-generation, limited-income graduate from Martinsville, Virginia, she holds a bachelor’s degree in religious studies and an M.Ed. in student affairs practice in higher education from the University of Virginia.

Currently, she is pursuing a doctoral degree at the College of William and Mary in Educational Policy, Planning, and Leadership with a focus in Higher Education Administration.
