Ellen Blackmon is the Senior Program Officer in the Office for Academic Outreach.

She manages faculty-facing programs such as the faculty Public Service Awards, community-engaged course development grants, and faculty learning communities. Ellen also oversees the university-wide Public Service Week, an annual celebration of the university's public impact scholarship, programs, and service. Individuals should reach out to Ellen with questions about support for community-engaged teaching, meeting other community-engaged colleagues, and to learn about professional development opportunities in the area of community-based teaching or service-learning.

Ellen came to UVA in 2018, following years spent in student education at historical sites. Public history remains an area of interest, and working within the Office for Academic Outreach provides many opportunities to stay engaged. Ellen loves living in Charlottesville, along with her husband, daughter, border collie, and a network of sweet, funny friends who may be reading this right now. Hello!
